Transform Animal Agriculture with the Power of Data and Consumer Research

The Good Food Institute (GFI) is on the forefront of the movement to use food technology and markets to solve some of the world’s biggest problems, from climate change and global hunger to antibiotic efficacy and the exploitation of billions of animals annually. The Good Food Institute’s Research Analyst will have a critical role in ensuring that a good food future happens as quickly and efficiently as possible. You will use market and psychological research to ensure the latest innovations in plant-based and “clean” meat, dairy, and eggs are appealing to consumers and can compete successfully against their animal-based counterparts.  

How You Will Make a Difference

Transforming the animal agriculture industry and developing a sustainable food system will require top-quality customer data and market analysis. As Research Analyst, it will be your job to ensure that plant-based and clean meat companies are as effective as possible by:

  • Analyzing and producing white papers synthesizing all of the research related to consumer acceptance of various new food innovations, including plant-based and clean meat
  • Conducting original research focused on maximizing consumer support for various forms of food innovation that will replace industrial animal agriculture
  • Working with startups and mission-aligned companies to conduct testing and analysis of potential company names, product names, branding, packaging, messaging, logos, etc.
  • Designing and implementing product- and market-related research, including messaging split-tests, impact evaluations, multi-factor experiments, and audience surveys
  • Conducting advanced statistical analysis, including but not limited to correlation, t-test, and regression modeling

Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking smart, thoughtful, articulate, and creative self-starters who want to push back against climate change, transform industrial animal agriculture, and develop healthy and humane foods that are accessible to everyone.

The Research Analyst must have exceptional data analysis and statistical skills, the ability to process and clean complex data structures, excellent writing abilities, advanced detail-orientation and organization skills, and enthusiasm about GFI’s mission. You will enjoy a high level of autonomy in this role and must be self-motivated, work well both independently and in concert with a larger group, and be comfortable working with a rapidly evolving and growing team.

We are considering candidates with experience in regression modeling, factor analyses, power calculations, experimental design, t-tests, ANOVA, and other models; proficiency in R, SPSS, SAS, MatLab, or other similar programs; and, experience designing, implementing, and analyzing data from survey and experimental research. Experience in field experiments, supervised and unsupervised machine learning, and/or database management is preferred but not required. Candidates must have an undergraduate degree or higher in psychology, sociology, political science, statistics, marketing, or related field that focuses on surveying and data analysis; candidates with a Ph.D. are strongly preferred.
